Karen owned and operated an Electrology business (Electrolysis by Karen) using the A.R. Hinkel Blend Method with the Air Desensitizer for over ten years – prior to opening Sandpoint Electrolysis in Seattle, Washington.  Electrolysis by Karen had locations in Bellevue, Federal Way, and Seattle.

Karen successfully sold the Electrolysis by Karen business in 1989 when her husband was transferred to Germany. Karen and her husband Steve, along with their two children, Kevin and Kathryn, lived abroad for eighteen years before returning to the U.S.
